I grew up listening to the stories my parents and grandparents told, sometimes directly and sometimes as they talked amongst themselves, unaware that I was listening in some hidden corner. I wanted to pass these stories on to my children and grandchildren but always felt it was too great a task as I had no idea where to start. The A to Z Challenge is a beginning. I will focus on the early years of my childhood in the 1950s but with reference to the people who were my family as well as the environment in which I grew up.
Later I became a teacher, married, had two children and now have two grandchildren. Life has been good to me and I am now retired, enjoying my family, travelling in our caravan and now and again going on an overseas holiday.
Writing has always been part of my life. Keeping a diary has become second nature since I walked out of the schoolroom. Writing blogs is a more recent phenomenon and I am still grappling with the intricacies of blog making. I’m sure I’ll know a lot more by the time I get to Z.
